Nutrition and Wellness :: Patient Education

Current Patient Education Classes and Programs:
  1. Step One -Healthy Heart Classes:
    Meeting 1st, 2nd and 4th Mondays each month at CPFCC of Stanley from 7:00 – 8:30pm. This class is the first step in Heart Disease Prevention and lowering existing elevations in lipid levels.

    This is our most popular class for the patients of College Park Family Care Center and is repeated 3 times a month to meet our current demand. $20 per person with spouse attending free of charge.

  2. Step Two -Metabolic / Insulin Resistance Syndrome Class:
    Meeting the 3rd Monday each month at the CPFCC of Stanley from 7:00- 8:30pm. This class was created to assist the patient with Elevations in Triglycerides, low HDL level, and/or elevations in blood sugars. This class builds on the Step One class by including the carbohydrate connection related to the prevention of Heart Disease and Type 2 Diabetes. $20 charge per person with spouse attending free of charge.
  3. FirstLine Therapy Program:
    This is a 12-week "therapeutic lifestyle change" program. This program is medically managed by your physician and the College Park dieticians to assist you in living your life in a way that will improve your health and prevent the progression of chronic disease.

    This program takes the focus off of scale weight and puts it on improved body composition and having energy for life. The emphasis is on healthy diet, personalized nutritional support and simple exercise programs.

    This program meets one-on-one with our CPFCC dieticians and can be modified to meet your personal schedule and financial needs.
