Personal
What got me interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare field:
I always enjoyed studying sciences and wanted to find a career that helped people. In high school I became a nurse’s aide at a local hospital and discovered I had an ability to connect with those who were sick or injured.
Core beliefs about practicing medicine:
I believe my patients hire me to give them advice. I love acting as a health coach. My patients consistently tell me they like my communication style that fosters dialogue and empowers them to improve their health.
My interests/hobbies:
Currently I am training for a breast cancer 60-mile walk. So my free time revolves around walking. I also love swimming and going to the gym. I like gardening, home décor and of course shopping. I enjoy reading and have a collection of Classical Children’s literature.
Family:
My husband is a middle school special education teacher. He and I are just now sending our last child off to college. So far the empty nest has been wonderful. He and I exercise and garden together. Two of our children are painters, one is a photographer and has spent time in Europe as a nanny for a Swiss family. Our youngest is a fiction writer. Our dog (Bandit) is a golden retriever who was homeless and abandoned as a puppy.
My Favorite Personal Quote:
“You cannot change what you do not acknowledge.”
