Personal
What got me interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare field:
My initial interest in high school was led by career testing which showed I would be well suited with the health profession. I worked in hospitals for 9 years before medical school and enjoyed my experience caring for patients. I decided to be a family physician because it is a challenging field which allows ongoing relationships with patients.
Core beliefs about practicing medicine:
My focus is to first help patients be healthy in their lifestyle – physically, mentally, and spiritually. Secondly my role is to optimally treat existing disease states to allow them to have the health needed to enjoy life to the fullest. I enjoy having close, open relationships with my patients—the better I know them personally, the better physician I can be for them.
My interests/hobbies:
Photography, gardening, recreational sports, mission trips to Russia, and serving on various church committees
Family:
My wife Laura is an artist – jewelry, greeting cards, face painting. She also has been an aerobics instructor for over 20 years. I have 3 sons and a young granddaughter and grandson who live in the area.
My Favorite Personal Quote:
“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen; not just because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” – C.S. Lewis
“I’ll be back.” – Guess who?
