What got me interested in the healthcare field:
My interest in medicine developed from a lifelong desire to care for others. Family Practice has allowed me to pursue this as a calling.
Core beliefs about practicing medicine:
For chronic illness, medicine is a collaborative effort between the physician and the patient. This requires open communication and the joint setting of goals.
My interests/hobbies:
I enjoy fencing and working on classic British sports cars. I am deeply involved in medical relief and children’s nutrition programs in Haiti. I continue to work with the Kansas Army National Guard after my retirement from the military.
Family:
I am married with four children and two grandchildren. My wife of 32 years is a Professor at Johnson County Community College in Interior Design. One son owns a small pool cleaning company, one son works with troubled children as a camp counselor. One daughter has worked as a journalist and is now a full time mother and one daughter is obtaining her teaching certification.
My Favorite Personal Quote:
“Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid nor dismayed; for the Lord your God is with you, wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
