What got me interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare field:
My medical career started out a bit different than most but I have always had an interest in medical care and helping others. I grew up in a small Missouri town with traditional values and a focus on family, religion, and community. From childhood dreams to be a marine biologist or zoologist, to my adolescent aspirations to be a veterinary doctor, I realized that my calling was to help people help themselves. The opportunity to go to medical school was the greatest gift and my biggest lifetime goal. I still enjoy the daily challenges of the medical field, continuing to learn and adapt, but most of all the people and families I have the privilege to work with. It is my goal to remain up-to-date on medical advancements, use proven therapies whenever possible, while remaining true to the values of my childhood envisage.
Core beliefs about practicing medicine:
I am a firm believer in preventative medicine. I believe people can become more empowered to help themselves avoid disease and disability through open communication, education, and application of evidence-based medicine.
My interests/hobbies:
Gardening, quilting and needlepoint, and cooking.
Family:
My husband, Chad is a physician and teaches a residency program. He works at Community Hospital serving mostly the uninsured or underinsured population. We have two dogs: Gracie and Schatuzie, both rescue miniature schnauzers.
My Favorite Personal Quote:
“Do unto others as you would have done unto you.”
