Phone Nurse

Some of the major responsibilities of the Phone Nurse include:

  • Prioritizes and manages incoming phone calls.  Gathers all necessary information to accurately assess issue(s) and direct appropriately.  Responds to triage calls with appropriate sense of urgency, competency, and professionalism.
  • Serves as a liaison between the patient and provider. Communicates medical information and directives in a competent and efficient manner.
  • Follows the medication refill protocol; documents in patient chart accordingly.
  • Executes provider directives. Coordinates with appropriate providers to facilitate patient care & communication in the absence of PCP (i.e., f/u abnormal labs/xrays).  Coordinates patient care with other areas of the clinic in an efficient and professional manner as applicable to position.
  • Communicates medical information and directives to patients in a competent and efficient manner.
  • Provides professional, accurate and timely documentation in patients’ charts. Completes orders, referrals, prior authorizations as appropriate for patient care.
RN or LPN with two or more years nursing experience is required. Must maintain current state nursing licensure.  Current CPR certification is required and classes will be provided after hire, if needed.
